TPC Scottsdale Sets Date for DraftKings Sportsbook Launch

The DraftKings Sportsbook at TPC Scottsdale has finally set a date for the launch of its retail sports betting and hospitality venue.

In 2021, Arizona lawmakers, along with then-Governor Doug Ducey (R), legalized sports betting for the state's gaming tribes with Class III compacts. The legislation also legalized commercial sports betting, granting sports stadiums and venues in Arizona the extended gambling rights.

The sports betting law in Arizona allowed the controlling entities of the NFL Arizona Cardinals, NBA Phoenix Suns, MLB Arizona Diamondbacks, NHL Arizona Coyotes, and WNBA Phoenix Mercury to apply for sports betting licensing partnerships. Each organization can partner with a single sportsbook provider for both retail and online betting.

Arizona's sports betting package also qualified golf courses hosting annual PGA Tour events and race tracks hosting annual NASCAR races for sportsbook concessions. Arizona has just one PGA Tour stop per year - the Waste Management Phoenix Open at TPC Scottsdale.

Let the Partying Begin

TPC Scottsdale was built in 1986 and has been a yearly PGA Tour event since then. The course is famous for its iconic par-3 16th hole, where a 21-year-old Tiger Woods made a hole-in-one during the 1997 Phoenix Open. Just two months later, Tiger won his first major at the Masters, securing an astonishing 12-stroke lead - the largest margin of victory in the tournament's history.

Over the last two decades, the WM Phoenix Open has gained a reputation as the biggest party on the PGA Tour. The 16th hole has a grandstand that can house over 20,000 fans who cheer on, or heckle, the golfers.

When the WM Phoenix Open arrives in February 2024, things could get crazier with fans getting the chance to not only bet on their smartphones but also in person at the new DraftKings Sportsbook at TPC Scottsdale.

TPC Scottsdale, owned and operated by the PGA Tour through its Tournament Players Club (TPC) subsidiary, signed a partnership deal with DraftKings for its Arizona sports betting venture.

On October 20, next Friday, the DraftKings Sportsbook at TPC Scottsdale will welcome the public at 10 a.m. PST. The 13,000-square-foot sportsbook features 40 betting kiosks and a seven-window ticket counter. A massive video wall measuring 3,400 square feet will showcase live sports action from around the world.

The sports wagering venue also offers food and drinks and boasts an outdoor patio bar with cabanas and firepits.

Location, Location, Location

The DraftKings Sportsbook at TPC Scottsdale is conveniently positioned east of the Stadium Course clubhouse across Hayden Rd. at Bell Rd.

The sports betting facility is also right next to where the PGA Tour parks spectators' vehicles during the WM Phoenix Open. The official address of the DraftKings venue is 8129 E. Bell Rd.

Arizona Cardinals legend Larry Fitzgerald is scheduled to make the ceremonial first bet at a ribbon-cutting event on Thursday. DraftKings currently lists the 1-4 Cardinals at +40000 to win the Super Bowl, the longest odds of all NFL teams.
