Tour de France 2023: Jonas Vingegaard tipped for rematch

Jumbo-Visma's Jonas Vingegaard is slightly under the spotlight at +110, ahead of Emirates Team's Tadej Pogacar (+115) Will win the 2023 Tour de France for the second consecutive year.

The stoic Dane and Slovenian prodigy will once again compete in the world's most prestigious cycling race in the Alps. Vengergaard won the 2022 Tour de France last summer, denying Pogacar the chance to win the yellow jersey for the third consecutive year. Pogačka won easily in 2020 and 2021, but finished second in 2023.

The 2023 Tour de France will consist of 23 days and 21 stages. The Grand Depart race will take place on Saturday in Bilbao, Spain, with 176 riders taking part.Le Tour departs from the Pyrenees to the Alps before arriving in Paris on the historic Champs Elysées on Sunday, July 23rd.

Vingegaard is looking for jaune's email address

Three-time Tour de France winner Greg LeMond said he believed winning the Tour de France was the toughest thing he had ever done, but changed his mind when he had to defend the yellow jersey. LeMond reiterated his thoughts by saying that winning the Tour de France in consecutive years was the most difficult thing he had ever achieved.

Wieggaard will be under intense pressure to successfully defend his title and last summer's yellow jersey victory.

On the eve of the first stage in Bilbao, Vengergaard was the favorite to win the yellow jersey for consecutive years, with odds of +110. He has a -400 chance of finishing in the top three and taking one of three podium spots in the final in Paris at the end of the Tour de France. Vingegaard also has a -475 chance of finishing in the top 10.

Vengergaard had just won the Critérium du Dauphiné, the precursor to the Tour de France. Jumbo-Visma was willing to reveal that he is in good shape and has no injuries.

Vingegaard burst onto the scene with a second overall finish at the 2021 Tour de France, a year in which he looks set to finish second behind Primoz Roglic at the Jumbo Visma The second largest driver. After Roglic crashed out multiple times, Vengergaard became their main driver and gave Pogakar a good fight in the overall standings.

Jumbo-Visma has a +1400 chance to win the team standings and become the sixth-ranked team on the DraftKings Futures Committee. Ineos Grenadiers are the defending champions and have once again put together a super team, which is why they are +225 favorites to win against the top teams.

Pogacar on a mission to win his third win of 2020

After winning the yellow jersey two years in a row, Pogacar struggled last summer. His title defense is not helped by the lack of a strong team around him compared to a Jumbo-Visma attack dog like Wout van Aert. On the other hand, it's a testament to a driver like Pogacar that he was able to finish second in a hard-fought race in what was considered a disappointing result.

Pogacar has a +115 chance of winning his third yellow jersey in the last four years. His chances of finishing in the top three on the podium are -400. His odds of finishing in the top 10 are -390.

The Emirates team's chances of winning the team title this year are +1000. They have a more diverse roster than last summer and sit just ahead of Jumbo-Visma (+1400) as the fifth-place team in the future rankings.

As expected, 24-year-old Pogacar is likely to be the best young driver in the main class this year, with odds of -500 to win the white jersey. He won the white jersey last summer after finishing second behind Vengergaard.

Slovenia has had a lot to celebrate in the sports world in recent years, with Luka Dončić making it to the NBA and Poagcar winning two Tour de France titles.

Mark Cavendish stands on the threshold of history

While the top climbers get most of the attention to decide the overall winner, there's an experienced sprinter who has a rare chance to make history.

British sprinter Mark Cavendish from Astana, Kazakhstan is currently tied with Belgian superstar Eddy Merckx on 34 stage wins each. Cavendish, 38, now has 34 wins in the 2021 Tour de France. Cavendish did not compete in the Tour de France last summer but will return in 2023 for a chance to set a new record.

With only 6 flat stages planned for 2023, competition at Cavendish is fierce. According to DraftKings, you can bet on a stage win at +150 odds.

Jasper Philipson (Alpecin–Deceuninck) is the best sprinter in the main field this year and is the favorite to win at least one stage at -400 odds. Other speed demons in the top five include Fabio Jakobsen (Soudal–Quick-Step), Dylan Groenewegen (Jayco–AlUla), Caleb Ewan (Lotto–Dstny) and Mads Pedersen (Trek–Segafredo).

Cavendish was one of the top six sprinters, but that didn't include Van Aert, who was not considered a sprinter even though he was fast enough to win sprint stages. Time will tell how Jumbo-Visma will use Van Aert at Le Tour this summer. As long as Vingard is still in contention for podiums and the yellow jersey, Van Aert will be in charge of the Supernationals.

Had Vengergaard crashed or been denied a podium chance, Van Aert would have secured individual stage wins, including the final stage in Paris. Van Aert's odds of winning the stage are -360.
