Lenny Kravitz turns 60 today
Lenny Kravitz, the musical artist, was born in 1964 in New York City. His parents were a Ukrainian-Jewish TV producer and jazz promoter, Seymour Kravitz, and a Bahamian-African American actress, Roxie Roker. Growing up, Kravitz experienced different types of music and started recording his first tapes as Romeo Blue during his teenage years. He made his first public appearances at the age of 16.
At 25, Kravitz signed a record deal with Virgin Records and released his first album, "Let Love Rule." His career took off with his second album "Mama Said" in 1991, featuring the popular song "It Ain't Over 'Til It's Over" that made it onto the Billboard 100. All his following albums saw great success, earning him multiple Grammy Awards for "Best Male Rock Performance" and an MTV Music Award for "Best Male Video for Are You Gonna Go My Way."
Kravitz also produced music for other artists like Madonna, Michael Jackson, Mick Jagger, Aerosmith, and Pharrell Williams, to name a few.
From 1987 to 1993, Kravitz was married to actress Lisa Bonet and they have a daughter named Zoë Kravitz. There's no news about any current girlfriend.
Since March 2024, Kravitz has had his own star on the "Walk of Fame" in Hollywood.
