In the '90s, they formed an unforgettable TV trio alongside the late Franz Beckenbauer during Champions League matches.
An iconic moment from their broadcasts was on April 1, 1998, at the Bernabéu Stadium before the semi-final first leg between Real and Dortmund (2:0). For 76 minutes, they provided entertainment through the show, delivering legendary lines before the game could finally start. At the time, Reif remarked, "This goal has done wonders for the game." Jauch jokingly added, "For those who didn't turn on their TVs in time, the first goal has already been scored." Over 12.76 million viewers tuned in to witness this memorable event, making it twice as popular as the match that followed.
Jauch and Reif were honored with the Bavarian Television Award for their spectacular performance.
