Disorder erupts in Zurich, child (12) severely hurt. - TikTok user showers cash from above.
A user on TikTok, who goes by the name "Oracle" and wears a golden mask, set off a commotion in a park in Zurich recently. He had promised to let loose 24,000 francs (~24,500 euros) in ten-franc notes with the help of a drone over Chinawiese, a popular spot by Lake Zurich. This was shared on his account - Oraclecomisschweiz - and hordes of people responded to his call.
Near 8 PM, the organizer privately flew the drone with a money bag to shower the park. People under the drone tried to grab as much currency as they could, leading to a massive jam where a 12-year-old boy from the Dominican Republic was hurt by some sharp object.
Reports suggest the child was rushed to the hospital, but there's no information about his current condition. The exact source of the injury is ambiguous, like whether it was the drone or something else causing harm is unknown. The police are now on a search for people who have witnessed this event. The public prosecutor has launched an inquiry into the incident.
The Drone Rainmaker
The unauthorized event by Oracle also puts the TikToker in legal jeopardy. In the video that hyped the showdown on Friday, Oracle had stated, "My name is Oracle, and on Saturday, May 11, it will rain money over Zurich's Chinawiese. Don't believe it? Then stay at home. Otherwise, good luck!" This seemed to be bait for thousands who turned up.
The masked man was seen in the park too—witnesses who nabbed 40 francs described his sudden appearance and announcement of a drone about to disperse the cash. He then witnessed the ensuing chaos, which included one person allegedly breaking their arm.
No details are available as yet about the person behind the mysterious Oracle with his golden mask. Whether he planned to spread flowers or currency from the sky is a mystery.
