Links to NSU and Hells Angels Exposed - Thuringian politician is affiliated with both CDU and AfD parties.
During the upcoming local elections in Thuringia, a man named Frank Böwe is running for two different parties: the CDU and the AfD. He's on the CDU list for the Ruhla town council and on the AfD list for the Wartburg district council. These announcements have been made public by both the town and the district. However, neither the CDU nor the AfD will confirm that he's an official member of either party.
The "Tageszeitung" (taz) was the first to report about this unusual situation. Apparently, Böwe has been holding these two positions simultaneously since at least 2021. His membership to the CDU parliamentary group is displayed on the Ruhla city website, while his affiliation with the AfD parliamentary group is listed on the district website.
This double-duty situation isn't a recent development. In fact, Der Spiegel reports that Böwe's dual role has been present since 2021. How has this not been noticed before?
A spokesperson for the Thuringian CDU mentioned they're in touch with local officials, attempting to investigate the situation. There's an added layer of complexity here because Böwe's name allegedly appeared in the state parliamentary committee examining the National Socialist Underground. This group had links with right-wing extremists and organized crime, involving the Hells Angels.
With local elections happening in Thuringia this Sunday, this news couldn't come at a more critical time. District councillors will be voted for in 13 out of 17 districts, mayors will be elected in all five independent cities, and other council elections are planned throughout the state. Furthermore, this marks the beginning of the "super election year" for Bavaria, which will be followed by European elections, municipal run-off elections, and state elections in the fall.
