Team Sport Involving a Ball and Throwing or Passing It During a Match - Thuringer HC suffers loss in a nail-biting match at TuS Metzingen.

The ladies of Thüringer HC, coached by Herbert Müller, experienced their second away loss in the Bundesliga this season. They were beaten 33:35 (16:17) against reigning DHB Cup champions TuS Metzingen in front of an audience of 2,000 on Tuesday night. Scoring a whopping eleven goals for THC was Johanna Reichert, who last suffered an away defeat in the league on September 16, 2023. Despite this loss, the Thuringians remain in fourth place with a total of 33:11 points, securing their spot in the European League.

The game against the sixth-placed team in the table was delayed by nearly 30 minutes due to a traffic jam encountered by the visiting team. Nevertheless, the Thuringians' lack of preparation time didn't affect their confidence, as they began the match with enthusiasm and were constantly looking to attack. Metzingen, on the other hand, relied heavily on its agile right wing in response. It was a back-and-forth affair with neither team gaining a sizeable lead. During the first half, Metzingen started to adapt better to the Thuringians' rapid pace, but the visitors managed to maintain their position thanks to their frequent exploits of Josefine Hanfland in the circle.

In the second half, Metzingen gained a lead of 21:17 (36'). But the Thuringians fought back with a stunning minute-long run of three goals, keeping the game evenly matched. The attacks kept coming on both sides, with Metzingen showing more versatility and Reichert seeing her scorer's skills shine in one-on-one situations. She put THC in the lead for the first time in the second half with her goal, bringing the score to 29:28 (50').

Unfortunately, the Thuringians gave away too many time penalties in the final minutes, which allowed Metzingen to catch up and tie the game at 33:33 with two minutes to go. Metzingen went on to win their fourth consecutive home victory.
