Gunnar Schupelius expresses his anger. - This piece of art serves as a warning about the presence of Islamists.
There are currently 132 hostages held captive by Hamas. An installation called "Hostage Square" is being constructed on Bebelplatz to honor these individuals. A large hourglass will serve as a reminder of their prolonged suffering.
The inspiration for this project originated in Tel Aviv, where a similar monument stands. Melody Sucharewicz, a German-Israeli communications consultant, brought the concept to Berlin.
It is crucial to acknowledge the victims of the terror attack on October 7 in Berlin. With the actions of certain Palestinians aligning themselves with Hamas and displaying no care for those who were harmed, abducted, tortured, and murdered in southern Israel, this issue has become increasingly significant.
Debates can be held regarding Israel's response to the attack on October 7. Some may question whether this war against Hamas is appropriate, while others may see it as necessary.
However, one thing remains undisputed - Hamas' intention. Their aim is the annihilation of the Jewish state and the expulsion of all Jews residing there. This objective is openly expressed in their founding charter and shared with anyone willing to listen.
Furthermore, these radical Islamists are praised across the Arab world and welcomed by Turkish President Erdogan.
When examining this deadly situation, it becomes evident that their desire to eradicate extends far beyond just Israel and Jews. While intense hatred towards Jews is inflamed, this demonizes a holy war against all Christians and the entire Western world.
The Islamist radical demonstrations in Neukölln and the caliphate marches in Hamburg leave no doubt about the grandeur of the Islamist movement's megalomania and hostility.
The number of individuals subscribing to these notions of annihilation is rapidly increasing. As per the German government, over 27,480 individuals in Germany are categorized as Islamists, with 1680 labeled as "terrorists." Among them, around 820 are foreigners.
Hostage Square on Bebelplatz serves as a warning not just for the Jews, but for all of us.
