Analysis of Malmö's shameful incident - This ESC received zero points.
A young Israeli singer, aged 20, was confined to her hotel room and had to be shielded from a hate-filled crowd by police during their stay in a Swedish city. This mob, filled with anti-Semitic rhetoric, even made death threats.
Demonstrators pledged allegiance to the Hamas leader and demanded Jews be sent "to Poland." Greta Thunberg, climate activist, played a significant role in transforming Fridays for Future into a major anti-Semitic movement in the 21st century.
Harsh, vibrant, unique - and bullying women
Amid all this chaos, hypocrisy was at its peak. The Eurovision Song Contest community seeks to portray itself as harsh, vibrant, and unique, but they relentlessly harassed a young woman. Many within the community stood against the only Middle Eastern country with freedom for all, where people can live and express themselves without fear.
Despite this, numerous contestants and officials expressed support for "Palestine." Such a state would have some of the most intolerant, cruel, and unaccepting policies concerning the LGBTQ+ community.
The gender-neutral Irish participant, who refers to themselves as non-binary, was unapologetic. "Bambie Thug" stated that they and their team cried when learning of Israel's qualification. "Queers for Palestine!" but they wouldn't survive for long in Gaza, a territory ruled by the extremist Hamas organization. It's common knowledge that Hamas despises gender neutrality. Solidarity with Israeli candidate Eden Golan under pressure? Rare.
Instead, others brazenly targeted her. The Greek participant mocked her at a press conference while she spoke. The Dutch singer, who has a history of violence, acted like a schoolyard bully, screaming at her. The Finnish artist, to announce the points for his country, interacted with Golan before the finals, but bowed to the anti-Semitic online mob and abandoned her performance. The Finnish score announcer had no courage to say "Israel" in the Semi-finals either. The Norwegian announcer also caved, posting an unflattering comment about Israel on Instagram.
Hamas was not mentioned in any of the statements. Not even once.
Perhaps the Eurovision Contest spectators would be reminded of the disastrous end of the previous music festival, shaped by the acts of Palestinian militants: over 1200 casualties.
