Unpleasant update: - This Eintracht player exits the European Championship.

To begin with, Aurèle Amenda (20), a defender from YB Bern, is transitioning to Eintracht Frankfurt at the onset of the new season. He wanted to feature in the European Championship for his native Switzerland but that chance is no longer available.

National team coach, Murat Yakin (49), has cut down the number of players in his provisional squad from 38 to the regular 26 - one of which includes Amenda.

His exclusion, along with several others, stems from the ongoing situation as well as strategic concerns regarding the EM.

An additional reason is Amenda's injury, which he sustained shortly after joining the national team. Moreover, he missed the last two matches for his former club Bern.

It's undoubtedly a setback for the 1.97-meter athlete, but his addition to the preliminary squad indicates his potential. Notably, he has no prior experience as a Swiss A-national team member, and his single game in the U21 debut took place in March 2022.

In the previous football season, Amenda secured a regular spot in Bern's starting lineup. His capable performances in the league and in the Champions and Europa League impressed the selectors for the extended national team and Eintracht Frankfurt.

The sporting director, Markus Krösche (43), highly regarded Amenda's skills, paying 8.5 million for him in the winter. There is a potential bonus of up to 3 million as well, making it a noteworthy deal, even without the International tournament participation.

As a silver lining, Amenda can promptly begin training with Sony FM on July 8 at Frankfurt's campground.
