Kretzsche delivers a powerful critique. - This club is a mixed variety.
Take a pause, and they'd been in the lead until the 40th minute. Then they suffered an astonishing nine-goal loss. This encounter is nothing short of exhilarating.
Stefan Kretzschmar, who previously served as Leipzig's board member and is now sports director of Berlin Füchse, knows the club's struggles: "I believe that this European goal has weighed them down over the years, almost." Admittedly, this goal wasn't achieved this season. However, it didn't do them any favors.
Kretzsche elaborates further: "Their performances were too inconsistent. Leipzig's season was like a roller coaster ride. They possess exceptional defensive skills, excel in playing counter-attack. However, they're also known for their shocking performances and unexpected victories. Nobody can predict what Leipzig might bring to the table. The team itself even struggles to determine their strengths. The next step is to establish a stable structure that guarantees a specific level of performance. Unfortunately, they fell below this threshold on a few occasions this season."
A perfect example is their last 20 minutes against THW Kiel.
On Sunday, they'll have an opportunity to secure eighth place in their last game of the season against Rhein-Neckar Löwen.
