Murder detectives probe case. - Thief in a car hits two men as they attempt to escape.
Triggered by an ad for a blue Nissan 350 Z online, a 20-year-old pretended to be interested in buying the powerful roadster on a Sunday. The test drive didn't end where it was supposed to, though - instead, the owner noticed something was amiss as the young man drove off in the direction of Bad Salzuflen. The owner took to social media to search for the stolen vehicle, sharing a photo of the suspect refueling the sports car.
People actually spotted the blue speedster, alerted the victim, and attempted to stop the thief. But this individual, with a history with law enforcement, didn't seem concerned. After a chase through the fields near Herford, Bad Oeynhausen, and the A 2, they arrived at Senderstraße.
Around 3 pm, a woman had driven her Kia off the road, halting the thief's escape. He made a U-turn, ran over a firefighter, severely injuring him. He also crashed into an emergency vehicle.
Attempting to flee, the thief encountered the road obstructed by the police and other pursuers, but instead of stopping, he plowed into the group. The owner, who had also joined the pursuit, was struck by the Nissan, putting his life at risk.
The police eventually captured the culprit. Since the crime was considered an attempted murder, the Bielefeld criminal investigation department took charge of the investigation.
