The Year 2024 in Poker: Key Moments from the Initial Three Months

2024 Poker Year Commences with a Bang: From WSOP Circuit and PGT Championship to EPT Paris and WPT Prime, Global Poker Enthusiasts Have a Feast of Excitement Awaiting

The new year begins with excitement in the air. January 2024, for instance, sees the commencement of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Circuit. Apart from numerous tournaments in the US, including those at the Choctaw Casino Resort in Dallas, Oklahoma, and the Horseshoe Casino in Tunica, Mississippi, the event will also make a return to the Casino de Marrakech in Morocco. From January 12 to 21, high-stakes gaming will take place in the 2,000 Euro High Roller Event and the 3,000 Euro Super High Roller Event. Portuguese player Silvio Domingues Costa emerged victorious in last year's Marrakech Main Event, pocketing 180,423 Euros.

WSOP Circuit: Understanding the Event Series

The WSOP Circuit is a series of tournaments held throughout the year, primarily in the US. These events offer both seasoned and budding poker players a platform to showcase their skills across various tournament formats with varying buy-in levels. Known for its high-caliber players, the WSOP Circuit also serves as a stepping stone to the prestigious WSOP Main Event in Las Vegas.

Also in January, the main event of the PokerGo Tour (PGT) Championship will take place at the PokerGO Studio in the ARIA Resort & Casino in Las Vegas: the 1,000,000 US-Dollar Freeroll on January 9. Only 40 players will participate, having qualified through the PGT Leaderboard or a PGT Dream Seat.

A highlight in January is the DeepStack Extravaganza I-Tournament at the Venetian Resort, also in Las Vegas. From January 29 to February 18, nearly 1.5 million Euros in guaranteed prize money will be up for grabs across 31 events.

Poker Highlights in February: EPT Paris and the Winter Poker Fest in the US

February's calendar is no less thrilling. The European Poker Tour (EPT) will ring in the new year in Paris on February 14, with the first of several tournaments held at the Palais des Congrès. Apart from the 1,100 Euro Main Event, the star attraction is sure to be the 50,000 Euro Super High Roller Event, taking place from February 18 to 20. Last year's EPT Paris Main Event was sensationally won by online qualifier Razvan Belea, who pocketed 1,170,000 Euros.

“[...] this is unbelievable, [...] something like this just doesn't happen! I mean, yes, this is everything I've dreamed of since I started playing poker.”–Razvan Belea, Winner of Last Year's EPT Paris*

Also in February, the World Poker Tour (WPT) Prime Tour 2024 will commence. The first stop is at the Pasino Grand in Aix-en-Provence, France, on February 1. The buy-in for this event, which concludes on February 5, is 1,100 Euros.

The US also gets its share in February. For instance, the Winter Poker Fest will take place at the Canterbury Park in Shakopee, Minnesota, from February 14 to 25. This tournament caters to players who aren't high rollers, with some of the 25 events starting at just 85 Euros.

WPT Prime and Triton Super High Roller Series: Spring Kickoff Entertainment for Poker Fans

As spring approaches, both the WPT Prime and the Triton Super High Roller Series have stops lined up to captivate players and spectators alike.

At the WPT Prime, held between March 19 and March 22, participants need to shell out 1,100 euros to participate. Buy-ins at the Triton Super High Roller Series, taking place from March 5 to March 12 at the Landing Casino on the South Korean island of Jeju, are significantly higher. Buy-ins for the total of 35 events start at 15,000 USD and extend up to 150,000 USD.

The excitement in the poker world extends beyond major events in the US and Europe. Online enthusiasts in Germany can also enjoy playing at various online casinos, providing a convenient and accessible option for poker lovers around the globe.

After the thrilling events in February, poker fans can look forward to the WSOP Circuit making a stop in Germany. Onlinecasinos in Germany will surely provide coverage and updates for this extensive tournament series.
