Blige has expressed her desire to leave the music industry soon. But she's still going strong, saying, "I'm still doing what I do, but not as often as I used to because I don't need to." Her latest album, "Good Morning Gorgeous," came out in 2022, for which she received 5 Grammy nominations and a nomination for the lead track.

The "Queen of Hip-Hop-Soul" in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Mary J. Blige first entered the music industry in 1992 with her popular album "What`s the 411." This record, along with its successor "My Life" (1994), is considered the beginnings of the fusion between hip-hop and R&B. As a result, she's been dubbed the "Queen of Hip-Hop-Soul." In 2024, it was announced that Blige would be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Blige's acting journey started in 2001, and it's been gaining momentum. For instance, she was part of the cast of "How to Get Away with Murder" during its third season. She played a significant role in the first season of "The Umbrella Academy," as an assassin named Cha-Cha.

Mary J. Blige received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the historical film "Mudbound." The movie's song "Mighty River" also earned her a nomination for Best Song. Interestingly, she's the only person to be nominated for an Oscar in both an acting and songwriting category in the same year.
