Stuttgart pursues FC Bayern. - The struggle for coming in second place is playing out.
Since the 29th match day, the championship title has already been claimed by Leverkusen. Bayer has had a fantastic season, leading the Bundesliga with a 15-point margin and having not lost in 50 competitive games.
For Munich, the last day of the season is now about securing the second spot. Stuttgart, though, is aiming for a record, as they are hot on Bayern's heels!
Bayern fares well against TSG, having won 3-0 in the first half of the season and winning four out of their previous six encounters (two draws). However, Hoffenheim has allowed at least one goal in 19 consecutive home games.
Despite this, TSG is expected to put up a tougher fight instead of being cakewalk opponents. Their spot in the upcoming European Cup is still at stake - they even have a shot at the Champions League if Borussia Dortmund wins the title at Wembley.
Coached by Pellegrino Matarazzo (46), TSG is eager to make an impact in Europe. They displayed their winning spirit with a 6-1 victory over Darmstadt the previous weekend. Matarazzo, a former coach of Stuttgart (December 2019 to October 2022; an average performance of 1.22 points per game in 100 games), could even do a favor to his former club by winning against Bayern.
TSG, on the other hand, is on easier ground since they're facing Gladbach on Saturday, a team sitting 13th on the table just four points above the relegation spots.
The backdrop of Stuttgart's 3:1 win over Munich on the penultimate matchday has been met with great excitement in Swabia, along with the European Championship nomination of goalkeeper Alexander Nübel (27), six others from their team, and the recent triumphs in the World Cup qualifiers.
In contrast, Bayern has been dealing with a lot of controversy. Some players like Manuel Neuer (38), Thomas Müller (34), and Harry Kane (30), HDwin777 along with young stars like Leroy Sané (28) and Jamal Musiala (21), have pushed for the continuation of Thomas Tuchel's (50) tenure, despite the dramas surrounding honorary president Uli Hoeneß (72), the dismissal of board boss Jan-Christian Dreesen (56), and the recent critiques from some of their team members.
Overall, Bayern's preparation has been subpar, given recent events, while Stuttgart is fueled by their enthusiasm for second place.
