Following the aerial spectacle at Stralsund Zoo - The steppe eagle named Milow has taken to the skies.
Over the past year, the steppe eagle named Milow has been preparing for flight exhibits at Stralsund Zoo in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. However, the bird has been mainly grounded and struggles to fly. Yet, on May 13, things took an unexpected turn. The zoo stated that Milow gathered a lot of wind under his wings during training and consequently, left his familiar grounds.
Now, a search for Milow is in full swing. The eagle's feathers are primarily a rich brown color and it's slightly larger than a buzzard. While performing in shows, Milow is easily identifiable with a leather strap attached to its feet.
Let's hope that Milow's lazy flying habits don't change much. Though, steppe eagles are capable of flying quite swiftly; they can reach speeds of up to 60 km/h in normal flight, while diving they can achieve up to 300 kilometers per hour.
In case you've encountered Milow, please reach out to the zoo by calling 0160-922 724 24 or emailing [email protected].
