China inundates Germany with low-cost packages - The SPD party calls for imposing tariffs on Chinese toys.

An export expert raises concerns about the influx of harmful children's toys, hazardous clothing, and unsafe electronic items, all transported at shockingly low prices from China. These products take advantage of a European exception rule that excludes customs duties for items worth less than 150 euros. This arrangement will stay in place until 2028.

Bartz urges the EU Commission to push forward the imposition of customs duties on these inexpensive goods to 2025. He hopes to stem the tide of Chinese packages arriving with duties using this loophole. This move would positively impact state finances and the environment.

Crafty Chinese dealers prefer sending their products separately to dodge export duties, Bartz claims. This supposed fraud costs billions of euros in losses for Europe.

Moreover, Bartz stresses that these products are frequently transported by air to facilitate fast delivery, resulting in dire consequences for the environment.

Both consumers and domestic businesses need protection from hazardous Chinese products, Bartz maintains. He asserts that the Chinese government seeks only to overrun markets with subpar products.

Bartz calls for action to halt this practice. He insists, "This must be stopped in order to safeguard fair trade practices and protect our domestic industries."
