Meeting up with past boss Ion Tiriac. - The similarities between Boris Becker and his discoverer.

During a gathering at the Cannes Film Festival red carpet, a strong bond between Ion Tiriac and Boris Becker was noticeable. The two were seen together, close to each other, and there was significant emotional connection evident between them.

Ion Tiriac first discovered Boris Becker, a young tennis player from Leimen, in 1984. Tiriac, who later on became his manager and coach Günther Bosch (87), believed that the exceptional talent had a promising future.

Boris Becker went on to win the Wimbledon Championships in 1985. Tiriac turned Becker into a world-renowned star and a well-known brand. The trio of men became multi-millionaires.

Despite the separation of their professional endeavors, Becker and Tiriac continued to be acquaintances in their personal lives. However, while Tiriac further amassed wealth through sports marketing and new ventures, Becker's financial situation deteriorated leading to insolvency, debts, and even a prison sentence in London in 2022.

In 2023, Becker acknowledged Ion Tiriac as his "father figure", saying, "He's been a father substitute for me until this day. I lost my actual father in 1999. And although we no longer worked together professionally, I always felt that I could call him my father. He would usually give me the right advice."
