What motivates the new coach - The significance of the Stamm pledge on Dresden

Previous Career: Once a professional soccer player in his home nation, he spent years in the second division without reaching the first-class Super League. His career was cut short at 27 due to severe injuries. It's interesting to note that Stamm also trained as a sporting goods salesman.

Career in Coaching: Unlike several ex-athletes in the soccer industry, Stamm started from the bottom and earned all his coaching certificates. He once voiced his disapproval of ex-players being able to skip lower license levels in the coaching sector in Germany, stating, "The substance then isn't enough for getting into professional sports and sustaining it." As a 28-year-old, he commenced as head of the U18 team at FC Winterthur, later spending nine years at Bundesliga club Freiburg, where he oversaw the U19s (for six seasons) and the U23s (for three seasons in the third division).

Talent Development: Stamm spent two years at Winterthur, where he nurtured star defender Manuel Akanji (28), who later had a thriving career at Dortmund and Manchester City. At Sportclub, he introduced Nico Schlotterbeck (24, currently with Dortmund), a DFB international and European Championship participant to the professionals.

Role Model: Stamm has always admired his mentor Christian Streich's (58) professionalism and personable demeanor. In 2015, Streich himself was involved in Stamm's recruitment for Freiburg's U19s. Upon this, Stamm expressed his admiration for Streich, saying, "He's not just crucial for me but for German soccer as a whole. Because he's extremely skillful as a coach, but also as a person. Christian is very perceptive and attentive to other opinions. However, he also stands by his ideals. He always listens to what the players have to say."

Goals: For a long period, Stamm was touted as Streich's successor. When Freiburg chose Julian Schuster (39) instead, Stamm looked for new opportunities. He is currently being considered by Hertha BSC, but surprisingly, he's playing for Dynamo.

Benefits for Dresden: On one hand, Stamm often used the 4:3:3 system employed by his predecessor Markus Anfang in Dresden. On the other hand, he is considered more adaptable in terms of tactics. His skill in nurturing talents will help maximize the potential from Dynamo's well-respected youth training facility, which was neglected by Anfang. Furthermore, he has a solid understanding of the league after the last three years in the third division.

Final Thoughts: Stamm's choice is likely to provide comfort to Dynamo, as it finally signifies the beginning of their team's reconstruction. Additionally, it's a triumph for Dresden's communications director, David Fischer, who was in charge of finding a new coach as the interim head of sport.
