Disputes or disagreements - The Secretary General of CSU finds Habeck's rebuke of Israel to be a disgrace.

CSU General Secretary Martin Huber has strongly condemned Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck (Greens) for accusing Israel of violating international law. "Robert Habeck's comments are unimaginable and embarrassing," Huber stated to the German Press Agency. Habeck was "fueling the already anti-Semitic climate in Germany."

Previously, Habeck had fiercely criticized Israel's actions during the conflict in Gaza. "Israel must, of course, adhere to international law. The hunger, the suffering of the Palestinian population, and the attacks in Gaza are contradictory to international law – as we can now see in court," said the Economics Minister on Saturday during a discussion with citizens at the Democracy Festival in Berlin. "In other words, yes, Israel has confirmed to have exceeded its boundaries there, and it should not." So far, the German government had only anticipated that Israel would comply with international law in the Gaza conflict. Accusations that Israel has violated international law are new.

Huber criticized Habeck for aiding "Hamas's propaganda and anti-Israeli sentiment from the far left." His claims were near to a reversal of roles between the offender and the victim. "He is joining the chorus of anti-Israeli propagandists of left-wing anti-Semitism. There is no room for such behavior in our society," proclaimed the CSU Secretary General.

On Monday, the chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Karim Khan, requested arrest warrants for alleged crimes against humanity against Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Joav Galant. The court is yet to decide on this matter. On Friday, the International Court of Justice indicated that Israel should immediately halt its controversial operation in Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip. With this decision, the highest UN court in The Hague satisfied some of South Africa's demands in an urgent complaint. South Africa claims that Israel is committing genocide. Israel refutes these claims.
