Current Situation:
The team responsible for finding Arian has now shifted to a different mode of operation. Although the search has been called off, they're still following up on potential leads. In the past few days, they've been working from Zeven, which is roughly 25 kilometers away. The telephone helpline continues to receive calls, and there have even been well-intentioned tips. However, these haven't turned up any concrete results yet. According to the police, their ultimate goal is to establish Arian's location. The duration of this volatile team's operation will be determined by the current situation and the results obtained.
Reasons for Ending the Search:
The police have explained that maintaining the extensive search measures required for this scale is unfeasible in the long term. The disappearance of six-year-old Arian marked the largest ever search operation. They scoured 5300 hectares of land, sea, and air - an area equivalent to nearly 7500 football fields. There were around 800 people involved in the search each day, including numerous special forces with dogs, horses, helicopters, drones, tornado planes, amphibious vehicles, boats, and diving equipment. Additionally, beams of light were projected into the sky, balloons distributed, children's songs played, and even fireworks set off. Unfortunately, these efforts didn't produce any positive outcomes. Moreover, experts have thoroughly searched all areas that were thought likely to be Arian's location - some of these were even searched multiple times.
General Mood Among the Locals:
Christian Dilissen, the deputy mayor of Elm, a small town in Bremervörde where the boy vanished, described the overall sentiment as heavily somber. The district is located between Bremerhaven and Hamburg. In the immediate aftermath of the disappearance, the entire community was actively involved in the search. Now, the mood is notably subdued. "We were all brimming with optimism," he stated. "Of course, we all wanted to find him." Nonetheless, there's still a glimmer of hope that the child might be found alive.
Police Assumptions:
The police are still treating the case as a missing person's report. Most recently, they had reason to worry about the possibility of Arian falling into the river. The tracks leading to Arian's location were discovered not far from the water.
Duration of the Disappearance:
Arian's father had initially filed the missing person's report on April 22, a week and a half ago. The breach occurred when a surveillance camera captured moments of the boy running into a neighboring forest. His trail mysteriously ceased after that. Arian hails from Bremervörde, which falls under the Rotenburg (Wümme) district.
