The Las Vegas restaurant disappoints thousands with its poorly dressed children's character.
May 11, 2024, will be remembered as a disappointing day for the over 3,000 people who turned up at a Las Vegas event to meet Bluey and his friends.
At the fast-food restaurant Dirt Dog, located at 8390 S. Rainbow Blvd., a man dressed in a cheap onesie and what appeared to be a dog poop bag on his face greeted them.
What the Heck?!
Parents' reactions on social media revealed a long line at the entry point and their dissatisfaction with the false advertising.
"Temu Bluey costume and decorations from Dollar Tree," commented Kevin Tagenhorst under the event's Facebook ad. "Thanks for ruining my 3-year-old's day!"
"You've let down an entire community of parents," Leiren Theroux added. "I won't be back to your establishment. My daughter was devastated."
"I drove an hour just to see a grown man in pajamas," another parent wrote, while another posted a Facebook marketplace advertisement for a proper Bluey costume the restaurant could have rented for $85.
"The kids were crying, some were weeping," Stephanie Hernandez told the news outlet KVVU-TV/Las Vegas, which revealed the story.
Hernandez's daughter Sophia, who was looking forward to meeting an actual TV star, said, "I was furious. He didn't look like I expected. We could see his beard."
We're Not Happy
A restaurant representative apologized to the customers for the "Bluey Day" failure, which essentially means everyone who attended it. They explained that the staff had organized the event for their regular customers only, expecting around 50-60 people, not the whole city to show up.
The representative also promised that they are working on inviting the "real" Bluey character to visit the establishment in the future.
