Tragic Incident at a Friedrichstadt Bar in Düsseldorf
The Judicial Hearing of the Gambling-Related Murderers at the Düsseldorf Local Court
In April 2024, a shocking incident occurred outside a bar situated in the Düsseldorf district of Friedrichstadt. Witnesses claimed that a 52-year-old man from Kosovo, identified as Rrustem R., discharged lethal bullets at a 38-year-old bar owner, Aleks M., who was also popular in the German rap scene. Following the initial two shots, Rrustem R. reportedly fired two more while Aleks M. lay helpless on the ground. Regrettably, all resuscitation attempts carried out by arriving paramedics proved futile, and Aleks M. succumbed to his injuries outside his very own bar.
The police efficiently apprehended the suspect without any resistance shortly after the incident. Six months later, on October 22, the trial against Rrustem R. commenced at the Düsseldorf Regional Court. He was charged with manslaughter as well as breaching firearms regulations. It was alleged that he had procured the weapon from an illicit dealer in Cologne some time prior to the incident.
The Victim: Aleks M., the Rapper and Bar Owner
Aleks M. was the proud proprietor of a popular bar in Friedrichstadt as well as the head of a personnel agency. His passion for music led him to garner some recognition in the German hip-hop scene, collaborating with renowned figures like Kollegah and Sun Diego. In addition to his partnerships, he also released music under the stage name Aleks M.
Although he managed to create a niche for himself in the music industry, he failed to secure a major breakthrough. His colleagues within the hip-hop scene took to social media to speculate about the motives behind the incident following his untimely demise.
Gambling Debts as a Possible Motive
As per the Düsseldorf Regional Court indictment, gambling debts may have driven Rrustem R. to commit the heinous act. The court alleged that Aleks M. facilitated illegal gambling within his establishment, rendering him indebted to Rrustem R. due to repeated losses during dice games. The sum total of Rrustem R.'s debts to Aleks M. reportedly amounted to 15,000 euros.
At the initial trial hearing, Rrustem R. asserted that Aleks M. had pointed a weapon at him first outside the bar and tried to intimidate him with the phrase "Let it go." As Aleks M. failed to respond, Rrustem R. claimed to have fired his own weapon in self-defense initially.
Several mobile phone recordings from the night of the incident appeared to corroborate the presence of Rrustem R. over the fallen and injured Aleks M., with a weapon drawn.
A total of 17 trial days have been scheduled for Rrustem R.'s trial, concluding on January 13, 2025.
After the tragic incident, news of the trial against Rrustem R. for manslaughter and breaching firearms regulations spread throughout the community. Despite his claims of self-defense, the evidence presented in court, including mobile phone recordings, painted a different picture.
