Verstappen puzzled by circumstances! - The issue with Red Bull suddenly arises.

The inquiries before the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix on Sunday (3pm, Sky and live ticker) are becoming larger .

Following McLaren driver Lando Norris' win two weeks ago in Miami (and the departure of technical guru Adrian Newey), the group led by Max Verstappen (26) was eager to bounce back.

However, so far, the Formula 1 world champion has only been sparring with himself - and his vehicle - in Italy. In the first two practice sessions on Friday, he left the corner several times and frequently ended up in the gravel. The Dutchman had to drive his Red Bull hard - and frequently beyond its limits.

Verstappen said after practice: "A challenging day. I never truly felt at ease in the vehicle. I lost control of the car too quickly. That was just terrible."

Ferrari appears to be the frontrunners right now for qualifying. The traditional squad intends to please the Italian community with significant upgrades in Imola. So far, it seems that the enhancements to the vehicle are having a significant effect! Charles Leclerc finished first in both practice sessions.

Nonetheless, not just Ferrari seems ready for the race. McLaren also seems upbeat after their Miami triumph. Oscar Piastri positioned his car in second place in the second practice session.

Even the ailing Mercedes team was marginally upbeat, and they were able to be content with the initial tests. George Russell set the second-fastest time in the first session. In the second session, Mercedes finished 4th and 5th - in front of Red Bull.

Lewis Hamilton (39) could finally be content once more. "That was a successful beginning to the weekend. The car's balance felt great and I had a beneficial feeling on the track. Some other teams appear quick, especially McLaren and Ferrari, but we are nearer than we have been thus far this season. But we won't rush to conclusions, so let's wait and see how things progress during qualifying."

This will occur on Saturday at 4pm - live on Sky and in the live ticker.
