The gambling company StarGames is the new sponsor of the football league Borussia Dortmund
Gaming provider StarGames and Bundesliga football club Borussia Dortmund have entered a new partnership. StarGames will be the official premium partner of BVB for the 2024/2025 Bundesliga season.
StarGames Advertising in BVB Stadium TV and Social Media Channels
According to a Borussia Dortmund news article, gaming provider StarGames will be the official premium partner of the club from the new Bundesliga season 2024/2025.
The StarGames logo will be visible at BVB home games in the Signal Iduna Park on LED advertising boards around the pitch, in stadium TV, and on other advertising spaces, as well as on Borussia Dortmund's social media channels. Carsten Cramer, managing director of BVB, issued a statement on the new partnership with StarGames:

However, this is not the first partnership with a gaming provider for BVB. Since 2017, bwin has been the official bwin official champion partner of Borussia Dortmund.
StarGames Offers Promotions and Giveaways for BVB Fans
As part of the partnership with Borussia Dortmund, StarGames will offer various actions for fans of the football club. There will be giveaways on the platform of the gaming provider, where fans can win tickets for BVB home games in the Bundesliga.
In addition, there will be regular special bonus offers for customers of the gaming provider during games of the Bundesliga team. However, it has not yet been announced whether this will be a casino bonus or free spins for online slots. StarGames: Legal Online Casino with German Gaming License
StarGames is operated by Greentube Malta Ltd. and has had a license from the Interstate Treaty on Gaming (GlüStV) since February 2, 2023. The gaming provider is therefore legally allowed to offer online slots to players in Germany. On May 29, 2024, the partnership between Borussia Dortmund (BVB) and defense company Rheinmetall was announced. As a Champion Partner, Rheinmetall is advertising on banners in the stadium and on the training ground of the BVB.
Due to Rheinmetall's significant role in the delivery of defense and security solutions in the Ukraine war, the new partnership with Borussia Dortmund has sparked criticism among the public and in the media. Critics have raised ethical and moral concerns about the collaboration between a football club and a weapons supplier.
However, Borussia Dortmund defended the cooperation with Rheinmetall, stating that supporting Ukraine with weapons deliveries is an important step in securing democracy.
Criticism of Sponsorship Deals: Sports Clubs with Gambling Providers
The sponsorship of sports clubs by gambling providers has repeatedly faced criticism. A possible gambling addiction risk is a common criticism.
