Has the season concluded? - The FCM has unfinished business in this area.
Last matchday brings an unfinished tale for FCM! They seek revenge against Düsseldorf.
On Sunday, they face promotion contenders Düsseldorf as they attempt to avenge a bitter defeat. Fortuna, surprisingly, inflicted the most painful FCM loss in this series. Magdeburg suffered a 1:2 loss in the DFB Cup's round of 16 fixture. What made it worse was that Düsseldorf's two goals came in the 87th minute and stoppage time.
Final game for 1. FC Magdeburg
FCM defender Tobias Müller (29) expresses the need for reconciliation: "This score still lingers. We aim to make the last game a triumph, reclaiming the points for Magdeburg."
The cup loss haunts the club. Kaiserslautern's journey as finalists demonstrates just how advantageous this season is for a second division team to advance to Berlin. Four of FCM's league opponents have progressed to the quarter-finals.
Furthermore, Fortuna also overcame Magdeburg in the league, winning the first leg 3:2 in the MDCC Arena.
Both defeats in December the previous year represent the season's pattern: numerous individual errors cost the club a significantly better performance in the league and cup.
Consequently, Müller's defensive partner Daniel Heber (29) also urges his team to improve in Düsseldorf: "We'll showcase a strong display in the final game."
