Enjoy make-up, blow-drying and other beauty treatments! - The expense of Baerbock's fashion is revealed here.
In order to ensure she looks her best during official engagements, Baerbock gets her hair and makeup done. This luxury comes at a hefty price – in the last two months of 2022, she spent an astonishing 11,000 euros on hair stylists and makeup artists.
This information was revealed by government spokesperson Steffen Hebestreit, in response to a request from the CDU.
This expense places Baerbock far above her fellow government members:
▶︎ Chancellor Olaf Scholz's (65, SPD) makeup artists and hairdressers billed just 3141.60 euros in December.
▶︎ Lisa Paus (55, Greens) spent a more modest sum of 2677.50 euros on styling in one month.
▶︎ Taxpayers were spared significant costs when it came to Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser (53, SPD); she was charged a mere 541.45 euros for these services.
▶︎ Both Labor Minister Hubertus Heil (51, SPD) and Construction Minister Klara Geywitz (48, SPD) were thrifty with regard to their personal grooming. Each was billed only 300 euros.
▶︎ Interestingly, all other federal ministers did not use taxpayers' money for their own makeup.
CDU calls for a cap on makeup spending
"It's perfectly normal for the state to cover the costs of important officials," said a CDU representative. "But the fact that Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock alone spends over 11,000 euros per month on hairdressers or make-up artists is blatant abuse and an excessive amount."
