Euro final captain selected. - The European Championships will determine Tah's upcoming path.
Jonathan Tah (28 years old) will lead Bayer Leverkusen into the Europa League final against Atalanta Bergamo (Wednesday, 9 p.m./live ticker available here).
Tah shared his excitement about the current season: "I'm really enjoying experiencing a season like this - winning a championship and then having the opportunity to win two more titles." He expressed this before the final training session in Dublin on Tuesday night.
"We're really looking forward to playing in the final. You can feel the special atmosphere in the city," the defender continued. "For most of us, it's the first time we've played in a European Cup final." Additionally, Tah stated, "When we're on vacation and relaxing on the beach in the summer, we'll remember what we've accomplished."
Aside from the upcoming game, Tah acknowledged the importance of the remaining season. "We know we can make the season even more memorable than it already is. Winning the championship and the entire season give us a great deal of strength and momentum for the final against Atalanta, and for the DFB Cup final against Kaiserslautern this Saturday."
The discussion of his future with Leverkusen is ongoing. The player's contract extends through 2025, and the team wants to maintain him, while FC Bayern has expressed interest. If an extension isn't agreed upon, Bayer would look to sell the player.
When asked about his future, Tah stated, "I'm not even thinking about that right now. We have two finals ahead of us, so I'm entirely focused on them. And then there's also the European Championship."
In terms of timing, the longer Tah waits, the more likely he is to extend his contract with the champions. Because Tah also recognizes the value of the club in terms of planning security.
