The International Ice Hockey Federation's (IIHF) World Championship is about to commence in Prague and Ostrava. The "O2 Arena" in Prague can house 17,383 spectators while "Ostravar Aréna" in Ostrava has a capacity of 10,004. Group B matches, including Germany's games, will transpire at the Ostravar Aréna. Nearly 30 contests will take place in Ostrava.

Kickoff happens on May 10 at 4:20 PM with two games: Switzerland vs. Norway and Germany vs. Slovakia. Most games begin at 4:20 PM or 8:20 PM, occasionally at 12:20 PM.
The group stages will run from May 10 to 21. Divided into two groups with eight teams each, the top four teams advance to the quarterfinals, utilizing a classic cross-over format.
The quarterfinals happen on May 23. The leader in Group A will play against the Group B's fourth-placed team and vice versa. The second-ranked teams from each group will engage with the third-placed teams from the other group. The semi-finals are slated for May 25. The final will occur in Prague on May 26 at 8:20 PM.

Group B: Germany, France, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Poland, Sweden, Slovakia, and the USA.
Which teams are eyed as favorites?
Canada and the USA are commonly tipped as leading contenders for the title. Canada has appeared in the last four World Championship finals, and finally emerged victorious in 2022. The Finns are also strong candidates, having clinched the World Championship recently. The Americans are often presumed to be top contenders due to the National Hockey League (NHL), but they've been devoid of a title since 1960. This can be attributed to the World Cup taking place during the NHL playoffs, where the best players are still active.
Germany has recently made strides as a potential favorite, having reached the semi-finals in 2021 and the finals in 2023. How far can the Germans progress this year?
