Potential lineup for the rescue operation's conclusion? - The entire population of Cologne is hopeful for Uth.

In the chaotic match against Union, Cologne's star player Mark Uth (32) demonstrated yet again that he can be the crucial factor in crucial moments.

Uth's participation was only his third game of 2024. First, he was out of action for a long time due to a knee injury, and last week he also had to deal with an infection. The forward could only manage to play for half an hour.

However, these 30 minutes illustrated Uth's immense worth to FC's attacking play.

The goalkeeper, Marvin Schwäbe (29), was full of praise: "We don't need to discuss it with Mark. When he has the ball at his feet, the game changes completely." All FC fans are now eagerly awaiting the prospect of Uth featuring in the final fixture against Heidenheim (Saturday, 3.30pm, live ticker here).

As for Uth's chances of starting in Heidenheim, Coach Timo Schultz (46) said: "If you ask Mark, you'll get a resounding yes. We'll decide the rest this week."

There is optimism that Uth has come through the Union game unscathed, as he completed a player replacement training session on Sunday morning.

Schultz acknowledged the significance of having Uth in the starting lineup: "We've seen from the brief minutes in Mainz that Mark Uth, Davie Selke, and Luca Waldschmidt in good form are invaluable to the team. Uth's entry into the fray, his demands for the ball, and his ability to maintain composure in difficult situations, make him a game-changer for us. I'm grateful that I was able to substitute him when he had a minor health issue."

Uth's limited involvement this season has seen him play for the team just three times. A fourth start against Heidenheim could be extremely significant.

Schultz highlighted Uth's determination: "He really wants it. He's from Cologne, and his passion for this club and team is unwavering. Just his presence in the dressing room is beneficial to us."

And Uth's possible participation could reignite the seemingly doomed FC's survival hopes...
