Magic, monsters and destiny...

A fourth season of the captivating tale "The Witcher" is on the way, bringing the journey of Geralt, Ciri, and Yennefer to life once more. Filming began in April 2024, and Netflix has released a hint of what's to come in the form of a teaser.

What's "The Witcher" all about?

Adapted from Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski's book series, "The Witcher" boasts a magical and medieval setting. The show interweaves multiple storylines of its principal characters, all set against the backdrop of a perilous world.

At its core is Geralt of Rivia, a mutated monster hunter attempting to navigate a world filled with danger. The narrative also highlights Cirilla, the princess of Cintra, who possesses mystical abilities and remains under Geralt's protection.

Yennefer, a formidable sorceress, also takes center stage. Their fates are entangled in a complex tapestry of magic and politics.

The latest teaser offers a glimpse into the forthcoming chapter of their respective stories. Die-hard enthusiasts were especially eager to see the new Geralt, who for season 3 was played by Henry Cavill.

However, with Liam Hemsworth now stepping into the role, some fans are feeling a bit more content.

Here's an overview of the main characters and the talented actors portraying them:

  • Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill seasons 1-3, Liam Hemsworth season 4 onwards): As an orphan, he was trained as a witcher, undergoing four rigorous trials. He emerged victorious from the most challenging test, which granted him supernatural abilities.
  • Yennefer von Vengerberg (Anya Chalotra): Born with a congenital deformity in her spine and jaw, Yennefer was sold by her father and then trained to become a sorceress.
  • Princess Cirilla "Ciri" (Freya Allan): As the princess of Cintra, she's forced to flee following her family's elimination, leading her to Geralt of Rivia's protection.
  • Larkspur (Joey Batey): Initially unfulfilled as a court bard and later becomes Geralt of Rivia's faithful companion.
  • Tissaia de Vries (MyAnna Buring): A sorceress belonging to a guild, Tissaia mentors Yennefer and operates Aretuza, an academy for aspiring females wielding magic.
  • Fringilla Vigo (Mimi Ndiweni): The niece of sorcerer Artorius Vigo, she was also trained in the ways of magic by Tissaia and serves as an enemy of Geralt and his allies. She works for the Nilfgaard Empire.
  • Cahir (Eamon Farren): A knight in the Nilfgaardian army, Cahir has made it his mission to hunt down Princess Cirilla.
  • Triss Merigold (Anna Shaffer): A crucial friend and ally to Geralt. She stands by him and Ciri during pivotal moments.
  • Istredd (Royce Pierreson): A magician, former lover of Yennefer von Vengerberg.
