Register, reputation, coal - The current state of the Dresden versus Aue derby final
In this game, both teams have already secured their place in the DFB Cup, but that doesn't mean the derby is without excitement. Fuel for the fire is the hardcore fans of Dynamo who made their views known after the last league match against Duisburg (4:0 with a final score).
Yelling through a megaphone, they didn't mince words: "It doesn't matter who makes it further. You're playing for this club and for this city. Do you get it?"
A banner with a similar theme was held up: "Dynamo hurts - promotion is out. Pull yourself together in the cup, beat Schachter."
Dresden's interim coach Heiko Scholz commented on the situation: "This is yet another highlight for both fanbases. I've also told the boys once more to give it their all."
If things don't go as planned, the stadium could erupt with passion - and the crowd may well be a record-breaking one.
The record for the most spectators in a Saxon Cup game was set in 2016 in the semi-final between SGD and FCE (0:3), with a total attendance of 24,956. Around 23,000 tickets have been sold so far, and around 2,700 of those went to Aue.
The distribution of the final revenue is also an interesting topic. The prize money is typically split between the organization and the losing team. But the winner receives a 215,000 euro entrance fee for the first round of the DFB Cup, so they leave with nothing.
Split the prize money
Since both finalists qualified this time, the Saxon Football Association (SFV) decided to divide the prize money three ways.
SFV head Hermann Winkler: "A fair and equitable solution for this final."
This would mean that, with around 25,000 spectators in the stands and subtracting the fixed costs (stadium rental, security, etc.), each party would receive approximately 45,000 euros. Not too shabby.
