Wirtz experiences no discomfort. - The crucial star of Alonso has returned!
Young sensation Florian Wirtz (21), one of the best players in the Bayer Leverkusen team, was injured in their recent match in Dortmund. He suffered a horse kick, which kept him out of the last two league games. But good news for Bayer's fans! Their coach, Xabi Alonso (42), has confirmed that Wirtz is ready to play from the start again.
Wirtz is essential for Bayer's upcoming games as they have important matches lined up. First, there's a Champions League home game against FC Augsburg (May 18). Then, they'll be facing Atalanta Bergamo in Dublin for the Europa League finals (May 22). Lastly, they'll play 1. FC Kaiserslautern in Berlin for the DFB Cup finals (May 26).
Wirtz couldn't join the team's training sessions until recently, as he was only able to practice individually on Wednesday. However, he completed the full training sessions with his teammates on Thursday and Friday. Alonso shared, "He trained well for two days. We'll decide what to do, but he's feeling much better. He has no pain in his legs, which is a relief. It's great news for both the game tomorrow and next week's finals."
However, it's unlikely that Alonso would start Wirtz from the beginning, considering the need to save him for the crucial Europa League final. Wirtz is an attacking star with an impressive record of scoring eleven goals and assisting in ten matches this season.
Bayer's players had a brief break after their 5:0 win against Bochum, providing them with rest before the season comes to an end. Alonso spoke about the team's energy levels and morale, "We took advantage of the two days off to have three solid training sessions. We haven't had such a long break in the last two months. The energy and mood in the team are both good. There's laughter in the locker room, but everyone knows when it's time to get serious and work hard."
With a well-rested team and a now stable and injury-free top player, Bayer Leverkusen is all set to face these crucial three games in the season.
