Escaped for 27 hours, now apprehended. - The chilling case files of a relentless sexual assailant.

On Thursday, a convicted offender (63 years old) managed to escape from Meppen prison in Lower Saxony. The fugitive was apprehended on Friday afternoon in the Zwolle region of the Netherlands, approximately 90 kilometers away from his original location.

It is customary for at least two prison guards to accompany individuals in preventive detention. However, on this specific occasion, only a prison chaplain was present due to a confession by the Lower Saxony Department of Justice.

A ministry spokesperson discussed the escape: "Initial reports suggest that the detainee took the opportunity of a visit to a bakery at 2:15 p.m. to flee through the store's rear exit while using the restroom. Subsequent search operations by the Leer police proved fruitless."

He was accompanied by a prison chaplain

The identity of the man who faced preventive detention due to being deemed a potential threat and danger by the court, yet had a counselor instead of prison guards to accompany him, remains undisclosed.

The individual measures 1.72 meters, has a protruding stomach, grey-blonde thinning hair, and blue eyes. He was wearing a short-sleeved red shirt and blue jeans at the time of his escape. Surprisingly, authorities withheld his name. Stefan Gleissner, spokesperson for the responsible public prosecutor's office in Aurich, explained: "There are no specific reasons for this decision. We don't release names in incidents like these."

This individual has been imprisoned since July 25, 2010. Initially, he served a one-year sentence for fraud. Subsequently, he underwent an eight-year sentence for rape, assault, coercion, and threats. He currently remains in preventive detention since July 19, 2019.

As young as 23, the man was known to have raped the wife of a friend. The courts sentenced him to a 1.5-year sentence for this crime in 1985.

In 2003, the man violently assaulted and raped his partner. As a result, the court imposed a total sentence of four years on him in 2004. The judicial abuse continued over an extended period. The BGH upheld this decision due to its severity and humiliation.

In May 2009, he coerced his then-partner into sexual intercourse by force, which resulted in her losing her teeth.

He threatened to kill his partner

The couple reconciled in December 2009 after experiencing a breakup attempt. However, the woman attempted to end the relationship again in May 2010. Witnessing this, the man waited for her, sexually assaulted her, and threatened to kill her.

On July 24, 2010, following an evening walk, he strangled the woman nearly to death. He then compelled her to surrender her cellphone. Later, he took her to his apartment and further abused her.
