Decision reached on Friday. - The Brendel thriller unfolded during Dynamo Dresden's game.

The Brendel drama spanned a whole week - the review!

Thursday: Following a lengthy and drawn-out selection process, the three final candidates pop up in front of the entire supervisory committee of the club. Unfortunately, or perhaps deliberately, the committee is inept or unwilling to make a choice in the evening.

The football magazine "Kicker" obtains information from a mole at the meeting, alleging that none of the candidates were entirely compelling. They single out Marco Pezzaiuoli (55) and Sören Gonther (37) as the potential contenders.

What's intriguing, though, is that the interview with the third candidate hadn't even kicked off at the time of publication, hence, no appraisal could've taken place.

Friday: In addition to the supervisory board's vote, the job seekers were also evaluated by circulation. A couple of hours later, Thomas Brendel was informed that he had been awarded the gig. But everyone's keeping schtum.

Saturday: While Dynamo notches a 4-0 win over Duisburg, third-tier side Frankfurt lets go of Brendel, since he'd snuck in talks with Dresden without informing them beforehand.

Sunday: The release from his responsibilities at FSV proves helpful for Dynamo Dresden. The ex-striker held a permanent contract in Frankfurt, which would've required a transfer fee.

Tuesday: Brendel reaches out to his previous clade, FSV Frankfurt, requesting an early end to his contract.

A dime saved is a dime earned

Being the regional league team that they are, Frankfurt would've had to pay hefty parting gifts due to the perpetuity of Brendel's tenure contract. Hence, they consent.

Dynamo unwittingly plays their cards right: zero pennies are doled out to Frankfurt.

Tuesday/Wednesday: The nitty-gritty details are ironed out, and the contract is inked.

At 4 p.m., Dynamo issues a press statement, proclaiming that Thomas Brendel will assume the role of Sports Director on June 1.

To the amazement of many, who didn't foresee this precise outcome...
