Thrilling moment captured on television. - The basketball star unexpectedly breaks down, emotional with his father.
A few days ago, word got out that Otis Livingston II is the top player of the 2023 BBL season. What was kept under wraps until now is how the Würzburg team's point guard discovered this news.
Everyone was in on it—they knew what was going on, except for the point guard himself.
Dyn, the TV station, had lined up an interview between Livingston's former teammate and Dyn expert Basti Doreth (34) and the point guard. They chatted about the MVP votes, which at the time had yet to be announced.
Livingston's dad, a well-known news anchor at CBS in New York, also joined the conversation via a TV studio. They exchanged a few pleasantries before the dad pressed a button in his ear and pretended to have received a crucial message. The words "Breaking News" flashed across the screen. With a confident tone, the dad broke the news to his son that he had been named MVP.
The emotion was too much for Livingston as he leaned back in his chair, jaw dropped, and his eyes welled up with tears. Moments later, his team burst into the room, presenting him with the trophy. Moved by the moment, the pro began to weep, "It means so much to me."
His father, on the other side of the Atlantic, couldn't hold back his emotions either. "I'd love to give you a big hug right now. I love you, my son," he said as he teared up in front of the camera.
Intense emotions across the ocean. "I'm so proud of you, not just as a basketball player, but more so as the person you've become," said Livingston Senior, addressing the Würzburg team. "And remember, you still have a job to do during the playoffs."
