Homicide on school grounds. - The 15-year-old murderer admits to fatally shooting Francesco, who was 14.

In September 8, 2023, Francesco (14) was brutally murdered at a school in the small town of Lohr, Bavaria. The accused, Valerio G. (15) cavalierly admitted his crime, stating he shot his schoolmate from behind. According to the German authorities, this was no accident, but a calculated act.

The Public Prosecutor's office believes that the shot to the head was an intentional killing. Valerio G. now stands accused of premeditated murder.

A twisted role model?

The accused Valerio G. (15) has been in a youth detention center since the crime

During the trial, Valerio G. tried to justify his actions by saying the killing was an impulsive decision. The prosecutors, however, believe that the murder was driven by a twisted fascination for murder, inspired by an American serial killer: "The prosecution assumes that the suspect only acted in this way because he enjoyed killing someone else - inspired by an American serial killer," stated Dr. Tobias Kostuch, a senior public prosecutor.

To facilitate the trial, Valerio G. was transferred to Ebrach prison, close to where his family lives. He had been initially held 400 kilometers away in Laufen-Lebenau prison. Witnesses, some of them being fellow students of both the victim and the accused, will testify. Allegedly, Valerio had confessed the crime on the phone to one of these friends during the last day of summer vacation.

The murder weapon and its source

After shooting Francesco, Valerio G. left him on the schoolyard and returned home, where he was apprehended in the children's room. The murder weapon, a Ceska pistol, was obtained from his step-grandfather, who was a marksman and had the gun at his home. Unfortunately, he was in the hospital during the incident and passed away since. It is known that Valerio was aware of the hiding place of the key to his step-grandfather's gun cabinet.

The trial is ongoing, with a verdict due on August 9. Valerio G. could receive a ten-year juvenile sentence, if found guilty.
