Texas, Michigan State vs. Alabama, Washington State in College Football Playoff
The Michigan Wolverines (13-0, Big Ten) and Texas Longhorns (12-1, Big 12) are in their respective College Football Playoff (CFP) semifinals against Alabama ( Early betting favorites are 12-1 SEC) and Washington State (12-1 Big 12). 13). -0, Pac-12).
The CFP Selection Committee shocked the sports world today by placing the undefeated Florida State Seminoles (13-0, ACC) into the coveted First Four. The 13-member committee decided that the Seminoles' playing without star quarterback Jordan Travis made the ACC championship team unworthy of a playoff appearance.
This is the first time the undefeated Power 5 conference champions will not participate in the CFP. The committee cited its eligibility principles, which include "related factors that may affect a team's performance during the season or that may affect its post-season performance, such as the absence of key players and coaches."
In addition to Florida State, the final four CFP players were Michigan State, Washington State, Texas and Alabama.

CFP DISPUTE
The CFP selection committee feels they did the right thing after last night's win over Georgia, moving Alabama up four spots. The Crimson Tide's win ends the Bulldogs' 29-game winning streak, which dates back to December 2021 when Georgia lost to Alabama in the SEC Championship Game.
Florida State head coach Mike Norvell was naturally unhappy.
I am outraged and outraged by the committee's decision today to revoke prize money earned on the pitch because a small group of people think they know better than the outcome of the game. What's the point of playing games? Do you tell players that if someone quits, it's okay to quit? Aren't you playing against seniors on your senior day out of fear of injury? "Where is the incentive to schedule challenging non-conference games?" Norvell questioned in a statement.
"Not only were we undefeated Power 5 conference champions, but we also played two P5 non-conference games on the road and won both. I don't understand how we thought that was an acceptable way to evaluate a team," No. Weir concluded.
FSU's critics point to its condensed schedule, which ranks No. 55 in NCAA Division I football this year. Alabama's critics pointed out that they needed a last-second touchdown on 4th-and-31 to beat a lowly Auburn team that was 6-6 on the season.
