Starting in 2025... - Tennis icon takes on captain's role at Laver Cup event.

In September, Team Europe and Team World will go head-to-head once more in the Laver Cup. As per tradition, the tennis greats will have their team captains Björn Borg (67, Team Europe) and John McEnroe (65, Team World). However, this time around, they're saying farewell.

Tennis Titan Steps in as New Team Captain for Laver Cup!

It's been revealed that Andre Agassi (54) will take the helm of Team World at the Laver Cup come 2025. The news came from organizers on a recent Wednesday.

Agassi: "I'm over the moon to receive the invitation to be World Captain for the Laver Cup Team!"

The eight-time Grand Slam champion and better half of Steffi Graf (54) is set to replace John McEnroe, who's helmed Team World since the very first event in 2017. McEnroe extended his congratulations to his successor.

McEnroe: "I extend my warmest wishes to Andre, who's been chosen as the next captain of Team World. I've no doubt he's the perfect guy for the gig."

Unwilling to let go, McEnroe added: "The Laver Cup is a very precious, extraordinary tournament that I cherish being part of. I'll be cheering for Andre and Team World as much as I can."

Agassi's Laver Cup debut is slated for San Francisco in 2025.

Laver Cup 2024 in Berlin

This year's Laver Cup will take place in Berlin's Uber Arena from September 20 to 22. Six European tennis champions will meet their counterparts from the global scene.

Fanciers can prepare to see Olympic tennis medalist Alexander Zverev (27), Spanish world number three Carlos Alcaraz (21), Russian Australian Open finalist Daniil Medvedev (28), and Spanish kingpin Rafael Nadal (37) as part of Team Europe.

Representing Team World will be the Australian Alex de Minaur (25), the American Taylor Fritz (26), and Tommy Paul (27).

The remaining players for both teams are yet to be disclosed.
