Customs duties Customs fees Duties imposed on imported goods Taxes on imported merchandise - Telekom presents proposal during negotiations: Verdi declines it
In ongoing wage negotiations, the employers at Deutsche Telekom and the workers' union are yet to see eye-to-eye. Deutsche Telekom proposed a deal on Tuesday, offering a one-off tax-free 'inflation compensation bonus' amounting to €2,000 this year. The staff's monthly pay raises aren't up until 2025, with a proposed increase of 4.2% in January. An additional monthly bonus of €150 is also in the works for October 2025, though the exact percentage varies with each pay scale group. The deal, meantime, would also cover apprentices and students in dual studies.
However, this offer does not satisfy Verdi. The union has expressed they want 'major advancements'. Verdi representatives are pushing for a 12% salary increase in a year-long collective agreement, while the company wants a 27-month deal.
The agreement would affect 55,500 employees if adopted by the Bonn-based group. But Verdi is planning to expand the scope to include other areas of the firm, potentially affecting 70,000 workers. Noticeably, Verdi has tried to pressure the company through warning strikes in recent weeks. The impact was not insignificant on customers - some technician visits got canceled, and sometimes, the hotline service wait-times became lengthy. More warning strikes could follow in the near future.
