Germany's photography history requires revision. The notion of photography beginning in 1839 is widely believed. However, the oldest images were captured two years prior to this date.

An uncommon bird was captured by the woodsman team of the Princely Household Administration at Bentheim Forest in Lower Saxony - in a photo trap! As they examined the footage from the wildlife cameras placed in the forest, they spotted a black stork on the images.
