This year persists! - Taco Bell Chain Makes Its Way to Germany

Taco Bell, a well-known American brand for Mexican fast food, has been a staple in American cityscapes for years. Now, it's setting its sights on Germany. The franchise company İş Holding (ISH) aims to open its first Taco Bell locations in the capital city.

Ilkem Sahin, the head of IS Holding (ISH), shared during an interview with Foodservice magazine that they're considering various options in Berlin. However, she couldn't reveal which locations just yet, stating, "They're really good locations."

It's anticipated that Taco Bell will debut in Berlin as early as July or August 2024, according to Business Insider. If this launch goes well, ISH intends to extend their Taco Bell presence to Frankfurt/Main. Their ambitious plan involves opening between 100-150 Taco Bell restaurants across Germany within the next five years.

Taco Bell traces its origins back to 1962, when Glen Bell established the company in San Bernardino, California. Bell had previously run a hot dog stand and a drive-in restaurant before opening a taco stand called Taco-Tia in 1952. In 1962, he sold these businesses to focus on launching Taco Bell. The first franchise licenses were issued two years later, in 1964.

Taco Bell has since become the premier Mexican fast food chain in the U.S. They've expanded globally, with presence in Europe, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, India, Japan, and Singapore. With a weekly customer base exceeding 42 million, they've created over 100,000 jobs worldwide.

Taco Bell is a member of Yum! Brands Inc., a holding company that also owns Pizza Hut and KFC. The company is publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol YUM. By 2023, they had expanded into over 8200 locations.
