Shocking victory for HSV! - Suhonen Secures Title as Ordeal Champion
Steffen Baumgart's (52) HSV players will feel the burn of this training session for a while.
To prepare the players with individualized running and training plans for their vacation time starting on Monday, they were put through the paces at Volkspark. The team had to track their performance in several fitness and agility activities.
One of these activities involved the "shuttle run test," a method used to assess the fitness and athletic ability of a soccer team's players. The goal is to maintain a steady pace while running back and forth between two lines 20 meters apart. Players start side-by-side on one line, then sprint to the opposite line when prompted by a sound signal. They then dash back to the start line and repeat the process with increasing speed until they can't complete the drill.
The shuttle run test began with Jean-Luc Dompé (28) becoming the first HSV player to drop out on Tuesday. Anssi Suhonen (no age given) clinched the victory, followed by Robert Glatzel (30) in second place, and Nicolas Oliveira (20) in third.
Unfortunately, four HSV pros missed out on participating in the shuttle run test. These players included captain Sebastian Schonlau (29), who is rehabilitating from a calf injury sustained in the Paderborn game; Dennis Hadzikadunic (25), Matheo Raab (25), and Masaya Okugawa (28), all of whom were under the weather with a cold.
