Bundesliga's Second Division - Stuttgart secure transfer of defender Chabot from Cologne
The transfer of defender Jeff Chabot from 1. FC Köln to VfB Stuttgart has been completed. The 26-year-old has signed a contract with the Swabians lasting until June 30, 2028, as the club revealed on Saturday. Reports suggest the transfer fee for Chabot’s services is around four million euros. The move had been hinted at in the days leading up to the announcement.
Chabot himself announced his departure from Cologne on Wednesday. He said, "I’m really looking forward to playing in the Champions League. That's always been a dream of mine."
Fabian Wohlgemuth, VfB's sporting director, stated, "The experience, mentality, and quality that Jeff Chabot brings to our club will help prepare us better for the challenges of a three-competition season."
Chabot is the fifth new signing for VfB this summer, following Nick Woltemade (Werder Bremen), Yannik Keitel (SC Freiburg), Stefan Drljaca (Dynamo Dresden), and Justin Diehl (also from FC). Additionally, Jamie Leweling has joined on loan from Union Berlin, and Leonidas Stergiou has arrived from FC St. Gallen.
