The second-place contest - Stuttgart holds a promising opportunity to claim victory in the Supercup.

Bayern Munich is dealing with the disappointment of losing in the Champions League semi-final to Real Madrid (1:2), while VfB is hoping to maintain their league success against FC Augsburg on Friday night (8:30/DAZN). They aim to secure second place.

Bayern remains two points ahead of Stuttgart in the table. However, their exit from the premier competition could make it seem as if their season is coming to an end with games left against Wolfsburg and Hoffenheim.

Meanwhile, VfB plans to go all out against Augsburg and Gladbach in their remaining fixtures. Coach Sebastian Hoeneß (41) assures, "We must strive for finishing second. Once we achieve that, we'll have another objective in the final match. That would be ideal for us. I've informed the team about it."

Hoeneß is keeping the pressure on, not only for the sporting achievements but also for additional monetary gains. By securing second place, Stuttgart can compete in the DFL Super Cup if Leverkusen wins the title. This comes with a bonus of 3.5 million euros and more lucrative television deals. Besides the excitement of winning the season, there are financial benefits involved for Stuttgart.

VfB isn't giving up for the rest of the season. Hoeneß stresses, "I can't imagine giving up now. We definitely aim to conclude the season. We have nothing more to give." With the chance of finishing as runners-up more feasible than ever, VfB is determined to see the season through.

On the other hand, Bayern is struggling. Injuries and lack of motivation? One thing is clear: On the final matchday, Bayern could potentially miss out on their first title of the upcoming season if they lose the Supercup.

However, will that be enough motivation after the disappointing loss in the semi-finals?
