The date is May 1st. - Strobl denounces violence during protests in Stuttgart.
Baden-Württemberg's Interior Minister Thomas Strobl (a CDU member) strongly criticized the violence against police officers at the self-proclaimed Revolutionary May Day event in Stuttgart.
Strobl commented on Thursday that the right to gather peacefully and without weapons is a crucial liberty. The Constitution guarantees this opportunity. However, anyone attempting to use violence should not be taken aback if the police disperse the assembly. It's clear that the troublemakers on Wednesday intended to create chaos, and arrests were made for firewood, flags, and poles.
There was violence at the May 1st demonstration, resulting in injuries for a number of individuals. The police eventually disbanded the procession. Reportedly, 25 police officers and three horses were injured.
The police shared that 167 individuals were temporarily detained during the event. Authorities are currently examining potential criminal charges. During searches, authorities discovered a significant amount of pyrotechnics, disguise materials, fire extinguishers, and smoke bombs on participants.
