Stolen Rolex Recovered at Las Vegas Hotel from Under Suspect's Wig
A lady was nabbed in Las Vegas on Tuesday for supposedly nicking a Rolex watch from a private space at the Aria Resort & Casino. She kept denying she had the watch, but ultimately conceded that it was stashed beneath her hairpiece.
The suspect, named Ariel Jackson, 25, is allegedly facing charges of grand theft and plotting to execute a grand theft.
The accused stayed behind bars at the Clark County Detention Center at the end of this week and is booked to show up in court on Monday.
The incident presumably took place when the watch's owner initially left the $15K Rolex on a counter before dozing off at about 1:30 a.m., as indicated by a Las Vegas TV station KLAS.
Watch Sheltered
A few hours later, another person staying in the room in MGM Resorts International premises roused him and urged him to stash the watch and other valuables in the room's safe.
The second fella brought two ladies to the room, as he was alert to the guest's caution given they were outsiders.
The owner examined the safe for his watch afterwards, just to find it gone.
The two ladies were still in the chamber when he searched for the Rolex. He approached them concerning the vanished watch.
He swiftly connected with the hotel's security department, and Aria security guards swooped into the room. They hauled all three individuals into a holding room at the hotel, at which point security staff also contacted the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD).
When questioned about the Rolex, one of the ladies mentioned she “had no idea what watch y'all are discussing,” police disclosed.
The second lady, Jackson, first affirmed she was "completely clueless" about the watch's location.
Hope for Freedom
When Jackson was apprehended and put into a cop automobile, she enquired, "If one of us had the watch and handed it back, would there be a possibility of getting out of this?"
The cop interrogated her again regarding the location of the Rolex. Now, she divulged the watch was buried under her headpiece. The officer afterward spotted the Rolex hidden "squeezed in between her hair and the hairpiece."
The watch's owner retrieved his timepiece. But he was still desirous of pursuing legal action against Jackson.
It's undisclosed if the second female was indicted as well. There were no details regarding how the safe was penetrated for the women to take the watch.
Arranged thefts of Rolex watches have occurred at some other Las Vegas hotels in recent times.
