Hanover 96: A German Soccer Team's Journey - Stendel signs new coaching agreement.

A week before the first final match for the promotion to the 3rd division in Würzburg, 96 made a big announcement during lunchtime: Stendel's upcoming contract had been extended - until 2027!

The title-winning coach happily remarked, "I'm very content with the past two years. I love coming to the academy daily and I'm thrilled that our partnership will continue. I still have a strong yearning to contribute to the academy's growth."

Stendel's Continued Stint at 96: 19 Years!

Stendel joined 96 again in 2022, following stints in England (Barnsley), Scotland (Heart of Midlothian), and France (Nancy). As a player (1999 - 2006), a youth coach (2007 - 2016), and head coach (2016/17), Stendel had already been with the team for close to 17 years.

Stendel was a blessing for the U23s. A 3rd place finish last season, now the championship in the Regionalliga Nord. No home losses, 90 goals, a five-point lead over Meppen at the season's end, and a dominant northern title - all while aiming for promotion.

Mann, the sporting director (40), exclaimed, "Daniel has achieved great things over the past two years. He has formed a solid and highly successful team while simultaneously helping players to develop individually, preparing them for the leap into professional leagues. We're elated he's sticking with us. Now we're all rooting for him and his team during the promotion matches against Würzburg."

In the two promotion games against the Würzburg champions, Stendel can finally call himself the promotion coach - after waiting seven years. Fired as an elite division coach in 2017 with nine games remaining, he was in fourth place. Breitenreiter (50) then guided 96 back into the Bundesliga.

Extension - Next Level?

Now it's about the 3rd division for Stendel and his exceptional team. The first leg in Würzburg in a week (May 29, 7pm), followed by the second leg in Hannover's WM-Arena on Sunday (June 2). The club anticipates 20,000 spectators, 10,000 tickets have already been sold.

Stendel declared, "This will be a significant event for the boys and all of us. We'd like to thank the fans who want to support us and will be working as hard as possible to end our season with promotion."
