Latest stir regarding the manager of the rainbow camp. - State funds allocated for premium camp showers
Regenbogen AG has been making a fortune from its campsite for quite some time. Permanent camper Peer Globisch, who carefully went through the company's annual report, states that they made a tremendous profit of five million euros from their Prerow campsite in 2022. The estimated profit was around two million euros.
Over €50,000 from the government for campsite improvements
Despite the massive earnings, they received an incredible 55,819.81 euros from the state's Ministry of Economic Affairs for "modernization efforts" last year. However, this money didn't go towards upgrading the showers or other facilities at the campsite. Instead, it was used to purchase luxury showers that campers have to pay extra for. The cost for a private, comfortable bathroom? A whopping 21 euros per night.
Are the allegations true?
Peer Globisch, a permanent camper and critic, claims that "the money clearly hasn't beenused for the wash houses on site, but for comfort showers on trailers that come with an extra charge. This creates additional income." In other words, the state is effectively subsidizing these high-end showers, which only adds to Regenbogen AG's already substantial profits.
So why did this happen? The somewhat shady background is that it had been assumed since 2022 that Regenbogen AG was a long-term tenant. But these days, it doesn't look like that's the case anymore. Backhaus, a critic, suspects that the basis for the subsidy might no longer apply.
Could Regenbogen be forced to return the subsidy? The ministry seems unsure, responding with "No information can be provided on this matter at the moment." It's a bit unclear.
