Lack of Video Footage at Magdeburg Shooting Event - Star SCM player Claar signs contract renewal until 2028.
Claar, who has only worn the Magdeburg jersey for a year now, comments, "I've been warmly welcomed by the team and have felt at home both on and off the field since day one. The energy in the GETEC Arena created by the fans is unbelievable and makes you want more. That's why I'm really happy to be staying in Magdeburg for an extended period. We have the best environment here for both athletic development and celebrating victories. I'm certain that we can still achieve great things together, ideally this season."
Star coach Bennet Wiegert (42) expressed his admiration, "Claar's superb one-on-one skills, his game comprehension, and his strength in defense make him an ideal fit for our team. He quickly accepted responsibility and we are delighted and proud that we were able to secure his services early and for a long time. Here's to hoping for a successful future together."
Claar scored the first goal against Balingen and was enthusiastically cheered on by the SCM fans in the packed GETEC Arena (6,600 attendees). The festive mood continued throughout the night. Magdeburg completely outmatched the league's last-place team. Following 28 minutes, Matthias Musche scored 22 points, giving Magdeburg a 10-goal lead (22:12). The first half ended with a score of 22:13.
Interesting: No video evidence was available today due to technical issues.
Magdeburg didn't let up in the second half either. In the 44th minute, Sergey Hernández (28, 14 saves in total) scored 4 goals, giving his team a 14-goal advantage (24:20). Substitute goalkeeper Mikael Aggefors (39) then played in Magdeburg's goal for the first time. The Swede made 3 saves and was cheered on by the crowd.
Ultimately, Wiegert & Co. won 43:29. Iceland star Omar Ingi Magnusson (27) recorded the most goals, with a total of 10.
The next catch-up match is on Sunday (4 p.m./Dyn). Leipzig will then visit Magdeburg for the East derby. A victory over Leipzig would allow Wiegert's boys to potentially celebrate the championship on the penultimate matchday (May 30, 8:30 p.m./Dyn) at the Rhein-Neckar Löwen.
